Our annual General Members Meeting was held Friday, May 3, 2024. Here are the highlights:
Why we have an annual meeting,
- Vote on members who have been nominated for a Council position (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and three members-at-large)
- Hear from committees about what they provided to the members during the past year. We heard updates from Curriculum, Membership, Social, Technology and Volunteer.
- Listen to guest speakers reinforce the importance of lifelong learning and NFLL. Mesa Vice Mayor and District 3 Council representative Francisco Heredia and MCC Associate Dean Kathleen Perales spoke with us.
Adela Bob was our special guest speaker who shared with us about growing up on the reservation, being the first in her family to graduate (she gets her Masters degree this month!) and juggling being a mom, wife, full-time employee at MCC, and a student. Thank you, Mary Boehlen, for asking Adela to share a little of her story with us.
I shared the three goals NFLL has for the next year:
- Grow our membership by 3%
- Continue offering a variety of classes, social activities, and volunteer opportunities
- Support MCC students and the college
And we gave away five $25 gift certificates and two passes to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Arts!! Congrats to those who won!
As an all-volunteer organization, it’s our members who make NFLL the East Valley’s premiere lifelong learning organization! Here are the members who were voted into office for 2024-2025. Their term begins July 1, 2024:
- Cindy Schrantz, president
- Jacki McDugle, vice president
- Pat King, secretary
- Fred Searing, treasurer
- Jan Lorette, member-at-large
- Lois Schaffer, member at large
