Volunteering
Definition
Merriam-Webster’s definition to volunteer, is to give of yourself in service to a cause. It is about freely giving your time to help an organization, your community, or an individual. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.
New Frontiers is a volunteer lifelong learning organization founded in 1995, and sponsored by Mesa Community College, one of the Maricopa Community Colleges. Members source and facilitate classes both online and in person, provide support for the operations of New Frontiers, and volunteer for MCC activities.
Please contact Mary Adamick about requests for MCC event volunteers and information.

We Care Wednesday - January -
We Care Wednesday - Spring 2026 is a food distribution event that takes place on the 1st Wednesday of every month at the Southern/Dobson campus, and the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Red Mountain campus. The food distribution events take place from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at both locations, and is open to all students, staff, and community members experiencing food insecurity.
The events take place from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and are held at the following locations:
- First Wednesday of each month at the Southern & Dobson Campus: February 4, March 4, April 1 and May 6.
- Third Wednesday of each month at the Red Mountain Campus: February 18, March 3 and April 15.
Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks, including event setup, food distribution, and providing general support during the event. It's a great way to give back, connect with our community, and make a meaningful, direct impact. We would love to have additional volunteers join us throughout the Spring semester.

Recording Volunteer Hours
Volunteering is the gift that keeps on giving and New Frontiers members are generous givers.
Please report your volunteer hours as soon as possible after the event. It could not be any easier than answering a few questions on the Volunteer Hour Report Form.
Reporting volunteer hours is an essential and very important part of volunteering. New Frontiers uses this information when talking with MCC leadership and outside organizations to show how we are involved in NFLL and the community.
